Poor Madelyn. She started getting a cough mid-late last week. On Friday night she was running a slight temperature and in the middle of the night she was complaining of an earache as well. She usually gets an ear infection every year, so we don't take ear pains from her lightly. Saturday morning she was complaining of a stomach ache and she still had this cold and cough. Saturday evening she seemed better and we ventured to Poncho's for dinner. We ate dinner and then the kids had ice cream cones. Then we left. We got the kids buckled in and started down the road. The next thing I heard was Madelyn throwing up into a sweatshirt. She had coughed so much that it made her throw up. Poor Merrick had to sit next to her and he could not take his eyes away from her throwing up. I looked at him and about every 20 seconds he would gag. Michael and I tried to tell him to turn away and not look at it, but he was magnetized in her direction. He was actually looking around Madelyn, who was hunched over her lap still throwing up, to have a better view. All this time Michael was still driving and I watched helplessly as Merrick gave in and started throwing up as well. Merrick didn't throw up into a shirt. Merrick threw up in his lap and down the side of his car seat. Michael pulled over and wanted to pull the kids out and clean them up as Merrick was crying now from having throw up in his lap. I convinced Michael that we should just drive home and clean them up there. Even if I had taken Merrick out, he would have had to go right back into his car seat in the throw up. So, we got home and washed everyone up. The worst part of the whole ordeal was that it was truly hilarious. We couldn't help laughing as Merrick kept gaging from watching Madelyn throw up. Michael had even given Merrick one of Miley's sweaters to put over his face and he wouldn't take it. He had to watch. Thank goodness Miley was a little more in control of herself and she didn't join in with the others.
