Phoenix...

Here is a picture of the city from a few miles down our road. It amazes me that it looks so close, but it takes about 15 or 20 minutes to get to the center.
I am convinced that Phoenix and surrounding areas single handedly keep the orange cone businesses in business. On any given street in the city, you will see the pictures below at some point. I don't have very much love for the city engineers here. The two streets that I take by my house are completely torn up and have no end in sight. I could understand fixing the roads if they looked better in the end. They look like crap when they are done. It's no wonder this state is securely in the red.
This monstrosity is a street over and they are redoing the sewer. The entire middle of the road is torn up for miles. It has been torn up for months and looks nowhere near being finished.

Yeah, it's a nightmare. 51st took about a year to get finished after they started tearing it up. Then they would fix it and tear it up again, and I'd have another nervous breakdown.
